Sagentia Project
Design Brief: Design an innovative packaging solution to enable them to market themselves as a consumer-centric company, however the real driver for the company is to increase formulation sales.
Main Responsibility: CAD Engineer and Prototype Maker
Refining the Project Brief
The top 3 concepts generated after statement matrix:
Developing a product which enables individuals to apply their fake tan products too hard to reach places.
Developing a product which evenly applies sun cream protection for users with reduced mobility.
Developing a way to apply hair dye more evenly to produce a more professional result.
Target Market
16-25-year-old males and females. The primary research conducted has shown this group to be the most consistent users of fake tan due to the number of social events they attend during higher education and university, and around the holiday.
The product should be intuitive to use, even for first-time users. The product should also allow for fake tanning without creating a local mess during and after the application process!
Georgiana Paula
I want the product to have a consistent and reliable performance and it must be durable. The product should also be inclusive (e.g. of gender, age and handedness).
Jack Thompson
The product should be sustainable and plastics used should be recyclable! And hopefully create a circular economy.
William Smith
Conceptual Ideas
To design and develop a product which enables individuals to apply their fake tan products to hard to reach places.
Initial Testing
Experimentations to find out the best application curvature, sponge types, and existing products to help inform on the next steps.
Prototypes
Final Design
Using the application of pressure to release the fake tan from the recyclable capsule pods. The capsule pods can be received as a monthly subscription.
